In Italy, the team at Psychological’s Center – Dr. Facci Michele faced a daily challenge familiar to many special education professionals: how do you capture the attention of children who can’t sit still, who feel left out by traditional teaching methods, and who struggle to find joy in the classroom?
These were children with a wide range of special needs – from ADHD to Down syndrome – and the typical “chalk-and-talk” style of teaching simply wasn’t working. Long hours at a desk, abstract explanations on a whiteboard, and passive learning left them bored, restless, and disconnected. Many couldn’t concentrate for more than a few minutes, and the classroom often became a place of frustration rather than inspiration.
The team’s goal was clear:
How can we support these students in a way that respects their differences, taps into their energy, and makes them feel seen, heard, and involved? With ActiveFloor.
The introduction of ActiveFloor marked a turning point in the learning journey of these children. Instead of being told to sit still and “pay attention,” they were invited to move, explore, and engage with their whole bodies. The floor became a playground of knowledge – an interactive, sensory-rich space where learning came to life under their feet.
Suddenly, focus wasn’t forced – it was natural. Children who once struggled to stay in the room during lessons now ran eagerly toward the interactive floor. Laughter replaced frustration. Curiosity replaced resistance. Whether they were solving simple math problems by jumping on the right answers or building vocabulary through fun, movement-based games, students were not only learning – they were loving it.
“For these children, sitting still is boring and even distressing. ActiveFloor helps them express themselves, move freely, and still stay connected to the content,” the staff at Studio Psicologia explains.
“It’s not just a learning tool – it’s a way of reaching them on their terms.”
Today, ActiveFloor is an integrated part of the daily routine at Studio Psicologia.
It’s especially powerful for neurodivergent learners, offering a multi-sensory experience that aligns with how they naturally interact with the world. It brings joy into the learning process, fosters a sense of inclusion, and builds a bridge between movement and meaningful education.
For the students at Studio Psicologia, ActiveFloor isn’t just an educational tool – it’s a reason to look forward to learning.
